Products and made-to-order items
Most of our items are produced individually after you order. Because printing and pouring are physical processes, small variations in color, placement, and finish are normal and are not considered defects. Product photos are representative; screen calibration means colors on your device may differ slightly from the finished item.
Pricing and availability
All prices are in US dollars. We try to keep pricing and product information accurate, but errors happen. If we discover a pricing or description error affecting your order, we will contact you before charging you and will give you the choice to confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund. We reserve the right to change prices, modify products, or discontinue items at any time.
Orders
Placing an order is an offer to buy. We may decline or cancel an order, in whole or in part, if the item is unavailable, if we suspect fraud, or if there was an error in the listing. If we cancel a paid order, we refund you in full.

Candle safety
Our candles are open-flame products. Trim the wick to one quarter inch before each use, never burn for more than four hours at a time, stop use when one half inch of wax remains, and never leave a burning candle unattended or within reach of children, pets, or flammable materials. Keep away from drafts and never move a lit candle. You assume responsibility for safe use.
Product use and care
Follow the care instructions on each product page. Damage from improper washing, drying, or use is not covered by our refund policy.
Your account and conduct
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. You agree not to use our store for any unlawful purpose, not to attempt to interfere with its operation, and not to copy our product photography, designs, or written content for commercial use.
Intellectual property
The Checkered Cottage name, our designs, product photography, and store content are our property or used under license. You may not reproduce or resell them without written permission.
Reviews and submissions
If you submit a product review, photo, or comment, you confirm it is your own honest experience and you grant us permission to display it on our store and in our marketing. We may decline to publish content that is abusive, unlawful, or unrelated to the product.
